Subject [jira] Created: (DIRNAMING-9) XmlConfigurator should support namespaces other than java:comp/env

XmlConfigurator should support namespaces other than java:comp/env

         Key: DIRNAMING-9
     Project: Directory naming
        Type: Improvement
    Reporter: Phil Steitz
 Assigned to: Phil Steitz
 Attachments: diffs, test-jndi2.xml

Currently, the XmlConfigurator assumes that the desired namespace is "java:comp/env". Users
wanting to initialize other namespaces may want to override this behavior.

The attached patch makes the configurator treat the "name" attribute of the top-level context
element in the config file as the root of the namespace. For example,

  <context name="alt/root/context">

will initialize a context with names relative to "alt/root/context" instead of "java:comp/env",
which remains as the default -- i.e., if there is no name attribute specified, "java:comp/env"
is assumed (so change is backward compatible).

The patch is a bit kludgy -- there is no doubt a better way to do this -- but it does seem
to work. It depends (I think) on the current lack of nested context support, so will need
to be reworked if and when we add that in any case.
