No "release" tag in SVN either, so from that I'd say it is also fine.

Still hope, more participate. While the W3C standards effort may seem
isolated and "lonely" to some, it has a goal especially driven by
requirements of the Java Portlet 3 EG and related Apache projects like
Pluto.
