Subject [jira] [Commented] (DTACLOUD-9) deltacloud answers with redirect (302) if you try to start a stopped instance on ec2
Date Tue, 03 Jul 2012 09:18:10 GMT

Deepika Agrawal commented on DTACLOUD-9:

Hi, I am using deltacloud API 1.0.0 and getting below log at server when trying to start an
stopped instance: - - [03/Jul/2012 14:45:32] "POST /api/instances/i-68ba7b10/start HTTP/1.1" 500
238765 5.0786

and the browser shows:

500 - Internal Server Error

undefined method `[]' for nil:NilClass

Server message
NoMethodError - undefined method `[]' for nil:NilClass

Original request URI
/api/instances/i-68ba7b10/start Retry
Error details
No details

Since Deltacloud does not support this action, the error should be 501 as discussed in above
posts. I will appreciate if anybody helps.

(302). IMHO the answer should be a 404, 405 or any other client error (4xx) since ec2 does
not allow to start instances that are stopped.
> concrete example:
> instance i-00e28a6d is stopped, but still visible on ec2. I now try to start it with
the Deltacloud REST API:
> Request to Deltacloud:
> POST /api/instances/i-00e28a6d/start HTTP/1.1
> Response from Deltacloud:
> Statuscode = 302
> Body = empty
