probably most users don't dare to comment in a way that seems authorative 
about a software package they did not test extensively. (at least, that's my 
motivation that keeps me from answering such questions)

but for what it's worth, i run a small website with turbine, which uses torque 
as a persistence layer, and i never had any stability issues. speed is good, 
but the machine the site is running on is not very high-end, and the load is 
small.

and the compulsory adivsory: your mileage may vary :)

seriously, probably you set up a testcase and report back on the list? i'd be 
interested, but neither have the time nor the resources to set up some tests.
