You are exactly on the right track, don't stop...Just because you
have the jdbc jar file does not mean that you have the driver for a
specific database.  Go ahead and place the mysql-connecter jar file
in your classpath and you can now load

com.mysql.jdbc.Driver

instead since the other name is now just a wrapper around this.
