Craig Russell commented on JDO-512:

I've verified that this suggestion reflects best practice.

Pending my getting some time to work on this, if someone prepares a patch, I'll commit it.

> jdo2-api jar - follow Maven2 naming best practices
> --------------------------------------------------
> Key: JDO-512
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JDO-512
> Project: JDO
> Issue Type: Task
> Components: api2
> Reporter: Chris Beams
> Priority: Minor
> Currently, the jar for the jdo2-api maven build is named jdo2-api-SNAPSHOT.
> In accordance with maven naming/versioning best practices, this should be jdo2-api-2.1-SNAPSHOT.
> This will allow users to declare dependence on the api in poms as follows:
> <dependency>
> <groupId>javax.jdo</groupId>
> <artifactId>jdo2-api</artifactId>
> <version>2.1-SNAPSHOT</version>
> </dependency>
> When 2.1 is officially released, they can then transition these declarations by simply
removing the '-SNAPSHOT':
> <dependency>
> <groupId>javax.jdo</groupId>
> <artifactId>jdo2-api</artifactId>
> <version>2.1</version>
> </dependency>
> I've submitted a patch to JPOX's Maven2 pom files that assumes this change; it's submission
is dependent upon the jar name being changed here in Apache JDO first.
> See the related JPOX forum thread here: http://www.jpox.org/servlet/forum/viewthread?thread=4523
