From Craig Russell <Craig.Russ...@Sun.COM>
Subject Minutes: JDO TCK Conference Call Friday, Jul 22, 9 am PST
Date Fri, 22 Jul 2005 17:15:25 GMT
Attendees: Michael Watzek, Andy Jefferson, Erik Bengtson, Martin
Zaun, Matthew Adams, Michelle Caisse, Craig Russell

1. Metadata Tests (Michelle, Michael W)

Michael is working on testing the relationship handling.

Datastore identity: One to one relationship test fails while storing
data. Embedded fails when retrieving data. Many to many fails while
storing data. One to many fails when retrieving data -- objects don't
compare.

Application identity: No relationships fails retrieving. Many to many
fails storing. One to many fails -- objects don't compare. One to one
class case exception in DeepCompareFields. Loading DentalInsurance.

Michelle is working on the metadata that can be tested with the
CompletenessTest and Company model.

2. Character truncation issue status (Michael W, Craig)

Apparently Derby CHAR(1) can store any Java char value. So the issue
is making JPOX use the setString method instead of the setInt method.

3. JPOX fixes/issues (Erik) no change.

4. Detached objects (Matthew) no change.

Other issues:

5. AI: Michael W. We need a file datastoreidentity/org/apache/jdo/tck/
pc/singlefieldidentity/package.jdo identifying the classes as not
persistent since they only apply to application identity.

6. We need to enhance the DeepEquality class to allow reporting of
the difference reported.

7. @author tags are not "the Apache Way" but it's not necessary to go
through the files and remove them. But do it when you are updating a
file.

Action Items from weeks past:

[Jul 8] Double-check locking in the PMF (Martin) Martin has
implemented and will check in.

[April 22 2005] AI JDO API release on ibiblio (Brian T)

[May 20 2005] AI: Craig file JIRA bug and fix this. Can test cases rely
on JDOHelper for state interrogation of non-binary-compatibility
classes? Yes, but the JDO 2.0 JDOImplHelper class has not implemented
the functionality yet.

[April 15 2005] AI Brian Topping will update the wiki to tell how to
access our releases area.

[April 15 2005] AI Brian Topping will do the maven goal for creating and
uploading the snapshots. He will create a directory parallel to trunk
called "releases" and put the snapshots there.

[April 15 2005] AI Matthew will create a directory in the
tck.api.persistencemanager called detach in which he will have complete
freedom to implement the assertions in the detach section of the
specification.

[April 22 2005] AI Craig will resolve what happens if an application
identity field is changed while the object is detached. Will be in
the Proposed Final Draft specification.

[April 22 2005] AI Craig will resolve the serialization contract for a
Detachable class so that implementations interoperate. Will be in the
Proposed Final Draft specification.

[May 13 2005] AI Brian Topping will implement pushing SNAPSHOT builds of
the project to ibiblio.

[May 13 2005] AI Brian Topping will arrange for automated nightly
builds.

[May 13 2005] AI Martin Zaun will investigate JSR 294 (Java 5) to see
impact on enhancer.

[May 20 2005] AI Craig to define the JCP distributions and see if maven
can help.
