Subject Is the Network Server now started or not?
Date Mon, 21 Feb 2011 07:58:58 GMT
>From time to time I am running into the following situation
with my hosted Derby Network Server (in the hosted environment
the Tomcat start (/stop) script is used to also start (/stop)
Derby) hwne attempting to start the server:

Sun Feb 20 18:25:11 CET 2011 : Security manager installed
using the Basic server security policy.
Sun Feb 20 18:25:11 CET 2011 : Could not listen on
port 31540 on host 0.0.0.0:
 java.net.BindException: Address already in use

When then using IJ (from remote) and issuing a
'connect 'jdbc:derby://myserver:31540/myDB....'

the connect succeeds and the derby log on the server has the
following entry:

Booting Derby version The Apache Software Foundation - Apache
Derby - 10.7.1.1 - (1040133):
instance a816c00e-012e-4419-9c5f-0000727a788d
on database directory /xxx/derby/data/myDB with class loader
sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader@77cde100
Loaded from file:/xxx/derby/lib/derby.jar
java.vendor=Sun Microsystems Inc.
java.runtime.version=1.6.0_21-b06
Database Class Loader started - derby.database.classpath=.....

Does this now mean the Network Server has been properly started yes or no?

Thanks
