I forgot to mension that I have a databse.properties file:

#jdbc.drivers=org.apache.derby.jdbc.EmbeddedDriver
jdbc.url=jdbc:derby:COREJAVA;create=true
jdbc.username=dbuser
jdbc.password=secret
