You probably should know that there is a difference between JAVA_HOME  
and PATH.

PATH is where your operating system looks for the command, in this  
case "javac". JAVA_HOME is where java (and javac and other  
executables) looks for other stuff once it starts executing.

So your problem is not related to JAVA_HOME but to PATH.
