Hi,

I think your problem is in the command line
> java -cp derby.jar;derbytools.jar

The semicolon terminates the java command, and it's treated by the  
command line interpreter as
> java -cp derby.jar
> derbytools.jar...

Isn't this supposed to be:
> java -cp derby.jar:derbytools.jar...
