Although the email talks about Eclipse, if you go to the web site, you will see that they are including Derby in this grant program. Here's the email I saw: IBM is pleased to announce the IBM Innovation Grant program for 2005, with a broadened focus which includes topics related to run-time environments that can be targeted by Eclipse-based tools. Particularly encouraged are proposals that feature innovations in teaching, research or community building around Eclipse, Apache Derby open-source relational database management system, Autonomic Computing technologies, Scalability and Availability technologies, the Unstructured Information Management Architecture, and scripting environments such as PHP, Perl, and Python. Awards are valued in the range of US$10,000 to US$30,000 each. Qualified faculty and researchers should submit proposals via the IBM Innovation Grants web site. Key dates: October 25, 2004: Online submission opens. November 12, 2004: Evaluation begins for proposals submitted by this date. November 26, 2004: Deadline for initiating a proposal. December 2, 2004: Online submission closes at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. E-mail requests or proposals received after this date will be rejected. January 2005: Award winners will be notified via e-mail and postal mail. For full details, please visit: http://www.developer.ibm.com/university/scholars/innovation.html Kathy
