derby.log is the default error log for the Derby database which is being 
embedded by an application that is running on your Mac.
 From your screen shot, it looks like Derby is being used by an 
application called Avid Application Manager.  You will have to consult 
with Avid to see if they provide a way to redirect the derby.log.
