I think your suggested CLOB conversion function would be useful and nice to provide
out of the box.

I understand your reservations regarding the prettyPrint function.

I do think that one of the primary virtues of the JSON format is that it is
intended to be mostly-human-readable text (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JSON)
and hence developers will frequently want to manipulate JSON as text.

It seems to me that making it easier to move back-and-forth between
JSON and CLOB formats addresses that need nicely.
