Subject [jira] [Updated] (DERBY-6807) XXE attack possible by using XmlVTI and the XML datatype
Date Thu, 18 Jun 2015 04:22:00 GMT

Bryan Pendleton updated DERBY-6807:
-----------------------------------
    Attachment: externalGeneralEntities.diff

I ran a set of tests (tests.lang._Suite) with 'externalGeneralEntities.diff'
and the tests passed.

So this change appears to pass our existing tests, and fix the
file disclosure vulnerability described by XMLXXETest.testDerby6807FileAccess().

> The Derby XML datatype and XmlVTI can be exploited, via XXE-based attacks, to expose
sensitive information or launch denial-of-service assaults. This issue has CVE id CVE-2015-1832.
This issue was brought to our attention by Philippe Arteau.
