Subject [jira] [Commented] (DERBY-6403) Doc for export/import in ref man should mention automatic commit after operation.
Date Thu, 07 Nov 2013 17:35:24 GMT

Kim Haase commented on DERBY-6403:

It probably makes sense, then, to reverse the order of the sentences and introduce the second
with "For this reason, you should issue ...", and explain the situation more. This should
be done in both the admin guide and reference manual topics, I think.

The admin guide topic already says, "Note: Imports are transactional. If an error occurs during
bulk import, all changes are rolled back."

But your information implies that this is also true of exports. Is it?

> In the admin guide (in older releases, e.g 10.7, this section is to be found in the tools
guilde) we can find this sentence in http://db.apache.org/derby/docs/10.10/adminguide/cadminimport27052.html:
> "Derby issues a COMMIT or a ROLLBACK statement after each import and export procedure
is run."
> However, the documentation for the individual export/import procedures do not mention
is important fact; I believe they should.
