Subject [jira] [Commented] (DERBY-5610) ServerPropertiesTest prints .java.net.SocketException: Connection reset to console but test passes
Date Thu, 19 Sep 2013 19:13:52 GMT

Kathey Marsden commented on DERBY-5610:
---------------------------------------

I got another report of this issue so reopening the bug. I still have not been able to reproduce
the actual issue but find that if I force a java.net.SocketException in NetworkServerControlImpl.fillReplyBuffer()
       try {
            replyBufferCount = clientIs.read(replyBuffer);
            throw new java.net.SocketException();
        }

 that the exception still prints to the console when I use the NetworkServerControl.ping()
API. I think with the API we should not see the exception print to the console it should just
be thrown back to the user. Thanks to Myrna for helping me find this.

> ServerPropertiesTest showed the below output when running. The ping retries and the test
passes.
> I am not sure if in fact a Connection reset is a valid response if the server is not
fully up and the test is just being too verbose or if it is real problem that we get this
Error.
