Subject [jira] [Created] (DERBY-6293) Alter Table->Add Default Value to already created column
Date Thu, 11 Jul 2013 10:21:48 GMT
Anilkumar Kalshetti created DERBY-6293:
------------------------------------------

             Summary: Alter Table->Add Default Value to already created column
                 Key: DERBY-6293
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DERBY-6293
             Project: Derby
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: Documentation
    Affects Versions: 10.10.1.1
         Environment: Windows 7, 32bit
            Reporter: Anilkumar Kalshetti
            Priority: Minor

Refer: Derby Reference Manual Version 10.10
                 Page Number: 26, Second Last Line
Sentence: [ Derby also raises an error if you try to add a DEFAULT clause to a generated
column.]

Steps to reproduce:
1a. Create table t1 with column c1 , datatype: INTEGER
Note:(NULL allowed)

CREATE TABLE "APP"."t1"  (
	"c1"	INTEGER
	)

1b. Alter table, for c1 , give Default value: 9

ALTER TABLE "APP"."t1"
	ALTER "c1" DEFAULT 9
GO

-------------------------------------------------------------------
2a.

CREATE TABLE "APP"."t2"  (
	"c1"	INTEGER NOT NULL
	)

2b.

ALTER TABLE "APP"."t2"
	ALTER "c1" DEFAULT 2
GO

Issue is that according to document we cannot add default value to already created column,
but here it gets added.
