Subject [jira] [Created] (DERBY-6287) Don't use reflection to call Java 6 methods in FileUtil
Date Tue, 02 Jul 2013 13:53:21 GMT
Knut Anders Hatlen created DERBY-6287:

Summary: Don't use reflection to call Java 6 methods in FileUtil
                 Key: DERBY-6287
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DERBY-6287
             Project: Derby
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: Services
    Affects Versions:
            Reporter: Knut Anders Hatlen
            Assignee: Knut Anders Hatlen
            Priority: Minor

The FileUtil class uses reflection to call the following java.io.File methods:

  setWritable(boolean, boolean)
  setReadable(boolean, boolean)
  setExecutable(boolean, boolean)

Reflection was used because the methods were introduced in Java 6, and the code had to run
on older platforms. Now Java 6 is the lowest supported platform, so we can call the methods
