Subject [jira] [Commented] (DERBY-1851) Create full SQL export of Database (including INSERTs)
Date Thu, 18 Apr 2013 04:51:17 GMT

Ari Maniatis commented on DERBY-1851:

I've now written a tool to perform this function. Derbydump is roughly equivalent in functionality
to mysqldump and is licensed under the Apache License v2.

You are welcome to use any parts of it within the Derby project, although I had specific goals
(to migrate from Derby to mysql).

1. output is compatible with mysql
2. it does not export the schema (although there are plenty of ways to do that)
3. there are no options

But it handles all the data types and has unit tests across all the important parts.
> Create full SQL export of Database (including INSERTs)
> ------------------------------------------------------
> Key: DERBY-1851
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DERBY-1851
> Project: Derby
> Issue Type: Improvement
> Components: Tools
> Affects Versions:
> Reporter: Alexander Schatten
> Priority: Minor
> Currently DERBY supports to backup a database (binary) or to create the DDL of the database.
It would be very helpful (as known from hsqldb) if it would be possible to export a full database
including content; i.e., CREATE, ALTER and INSERT statements.
> This is particularly nice for development issues when a schema is often changing...
