Subject [jira] [Commented] (DERBY-5371) Database fails to boot, complaining that the getProcedureColumns() system procedure already exists

Rick Hillegas commented on DERBY-5371:
--------------------------------------

Hi Andreas,

Can you tell us more about your configuration:

1) Is this a database which was created with 10.5 and then booted, later on, by 10.8?

2) What is the result of running the following query:

     values syscs_util.syscs_get_database_property( 'DataDictionaryVersion' )

I can't give any guarantees about the integrity of your database. After a data corruption,
it is always safest to dump your tables to external files using the SYSCS_UTIL.SYSCS_EXPORT_TABLE
procedure, then create a fresh database using the latest version of Derby, then reload the
table using the SYSCS_UTIL.SYSCS_IMPORT_TABLE procedure.

Thanks,
-Rick

> Database boot fails while trying to create system procedures. This was reported on derby-dev
by Mani Afschar Yazdi: http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/db-derby-dev/201108.mbox/%3C803C999D-9943-422F-ACD8-D1E18644634C@jq-consulting.de%3E
Mani reports the following:
> Hello,
> I use Derby extensivly and I have a problem with the attached
> database. DB name is ess_Prism, driver is embedded or net, both have
> the same behavoir. I use Apache Derby Network Server 10.8.1.2 -
> (1095077) in Client/Server mode. It runs on Linux ubuntu. Java
> runtime Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_14-b08).
> I set up the database many times by creating a new one and inserting
> the values. It works for the first few days, after a while this
> strange error occurs (I added some more lines before the exception to
> see what happened before):
