Hi Kathey,

Thanks for that, it got me a little further, but now I get the following:

C:\Apache\db-derby-10.8.3.0-src\build.xml:241: Don't know how to set java16compile.classpath
using this environment:

java.vendor = IBM Corporation
java.home = C:\IBM\Java_SDK_1.6\jre
java.version = 1.6.0
os.name = Windows XP
j14lib = null
j15lib = null
j16lib = "C:/IBM/Java_SDK_1.6/jre/lib"
jdkSearchPath = C:\IBM

Please consult BUILDING.html for instructions on how to set the compiler-classpath properties.

Total time: 1 second

C:\Apache\db-derby-10.8.3.0-src>

Thanks,
Oskar

Hi Oskar,

To get building try creating a file at the top of the code tree
    called local.properties and add the following values:

jdk16= C:\IBM\Java_SDK_1.6
j16lib=${jdk16}/jre/lib

Best
