It looks good to me too. Do we need similar changes for the other occurrences of this pattern
too? Maybe we could make pingConnect() as tolerant as waitForConnect(), so that no changes
are needed in the test cases themselves? (The former only tolerate 08004 errors while waiting
for the server to come up, whereas the latter accepts all errors.)
