Subject [jira] Commented: (DERBY-5058) Add support for "boolean" data type in UpdatableResultSetTest
Date Sun, 20 Feb 2011 21:28:38 GMT

Knut Anders Hatlen commented on DERBY-5058:

Hi Nirmal,

I think the first failure in the updated test is not caused by a code bug. What fails is a
call to updateString() on a boolean column, where the string argument is "1992". This fails,
and so it should, since "1992" isn't a valid boolean value. So I think we need to make the
updateString() test case smarter and not use the values from VARCHARCOL when updating a boolean
column. I tried to change the updateString() case to use the value found in BOOLEANCOL instead
when the type of the target column was boolean, but then I ran into another problem with updateBytes(),
which I think is a bug -- logged as DERBY-5063. Until that bug's fixed, we'd probably need
a workaround in the test, like skipping the problematic combination or something.
