On the JDBC escape functions the defined list is specified by appendix C.1 of the JDBC spec. If a function does not appear in that appendix then it should not work as a JDBC escaped function.

If it's not documented then folks won't know to use it and thus we may not realize the benefit of open source by having users testing it. Really the question is does someone want to document it, "scratch that itch".
