The "directory" component of the JDBC connection string should permit leading slashes on the
windows platform
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                 Key: DERBY-3281
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DERBY-3281
             Project: Derby
          Issue Type: Wish
          Components: JDBC
    Affects Versions: 10.0.2.1
Environment: Java 1.5, Windows XP, Eclipse 3.3.1
            Reporter: Patrick Haas
            Priority: Trivial

Derby does not allow for leading '/' in URIs. The connection string "jdbc:derby:C:/path/to/db;create=true"
works while "jdbc:derby:/C:/path/to/db;create=true" is ignored by the EmbeddedDriver (the
only driver tested.)

It would be nice if Derby the behaviour was similar to how java.io.File handles this.
