Subject [jira] Resolved: (DERBY-2617) automatically generate statistics info when indexes are recreated as part of an alter table action
Date Sun, 06 May 2007 22:21:16 GMT

Mike Matrigali resolved DERBY-2617.
-----------------------------------

    Resolution: Invalid

I was confused by comments in the file, comments made it seem like only compress table was
handled - but same code is used
by all alter table actions that require rebuild of index. I';ll update the comments as part
of the work I am doing on AlterTableConstantAction.

> Currently statistics are only generated as part of recreating indexes in an alter table
action if they already exist. Similar
> to DERBY-737 derby should go ahead and create the statistics whether they already exist
or not. The work is almost free as we are already doing the sort and create of the index,
so no reason to not generate them at this point.
> See updateIndex() code in AlterTableConstantAction.java.
