Kathey Marsden commented on DERBY-2463:
---------------------------------------

Thanks Dan and Manish for the comments.
Dan,
>would say that this is not a utility for JDBC, but instead some utility for SQL language.
So a new class SQLUtilities.java to provide a home for this?

>As for a test for the test code, not sure about that. :-)
I'll trash it.

Manish

>1. Is it possible that the RuntimeStatisticsParser constructor can be called with a null
value for rts?
I don't think so.

>2. Since the procedure SYSCS_UTIL.SYSCS_GET_RUNTIMESTATISTICS() returns a >RuntimeStatistics
object it seems a shame to convert this object to a string and then parse it. Is it >possible
to manipulate this object directly?
I don't know how without java Object support

>3. A common usage for something like this would be
> a. set runtime statistics on
> b. parse and possibly execute query.
> c. look at runtime stats.
>It would be nice if there was a helper method to combine all these steps into one routine
especially if >the test does not care about results returned in 2.
That sounds like a good idea. I'll add it as soon as I know where to put these methods.

>4. It would be nice if we could extract other information from this parser, not just the
isolation level!
Yes, this is just a start on the Parser. It can be expanded as needed. It would be good
for it to mimic RunTimeStatistics.

> Tests need to extract information such as isolation level from runtime statistics. Add
a utility class to do this.
