Kim Haase commented on DERBY-2361:

Thanks, Andrew. I think I get it now -- this does not involve Java examples, but instead improving
the cadminapps49914 topic to add information on setting this client attribute through the
connection URL.

Are 8 and 9 the only values that are relevant? I assume the numeric equivalent of CLEAR_TEXT_PASSWORD_SECURITY
doesn't need to be documented, since it's the default. What about USER_ONLY_SECURITY? Would
this be automatically set if you omitted the password attribute from the connection URL?

I think the property derby.drda.securityMechanism is actually pretty well documented in http://db.apache.org/derby/docs/dev/adminguide/radmindrdasecmechanism.html.
It would probably be helpful to add to cadminapps49914 a cross-reference to the radmindrdasecmechanism
topic and to explain that if the securityMechanism property is set for the server, client
connections are restricted to the specified mechanism.

> Key: DERBY-2361
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DERBY-2361
> Project: Derby
> Issue Type: Improvement
> Components: Documentation
> Affects Versions:
> Reporter: Andrew McIntyre
> The Derby Server and Administration guide talks about the different security mechanisms,
but does not give examples of how these can be used via connection URLs, it only mentions
the client DataSource field names.
> The documentation should give examples of how to use the different security mechanisms
via connection URLs, and perhaps an example of how the client field names would be used programmatically.
