ij> disconnect;
ij> connect 'jdbc:derby:cs;shutdown=true';
ERROR 08006: Database 'cs' shutdown.
ij> connect 'jdbc:derby:cs;shutdown=true';
ERROR XJ004: Database 'cs' not found.

Second shutdown above implies the database does not exist.
