Subject [jira] Commented: (DERBY-1489) Provide ALTER TABLE DROP COLUMN functionality
Date Sat, 23 Sep 2006 14:55:24 GMT

Bryan Pendleton commented on DERBY-1489:
----------------------------------------

It seems like DataDictionaryImpl.clearCaches() ought to clear the PermissionsCache, the
same way it clears the other DD caches. By itself, this doesn't fix anything, but it does
seem
like it will have to be a building block for a solution.

> Provide a way to drop a column from an existing table. Possible syntax would be:
>   ALTER TABLE tablename DROP COLUMN columnname CASCADE / RESTRICT;
> Feature should properly handle columns which are used in constraints, views, triggers,
indexes, etc.
