Subject [jira] Commented: (DERBY-1684) Move client data source tests from jdbcapi/dataSourceReference.java to a separate test

Deepa Remesh commented on DERBY-1684:
-------------------------------------

Yes, we can add conditions to run specific tests based on the framework. In case of jdbcapi/dataSourceReference.java
test, it is listed in the exclude file and so will not get run with client framework. So we
may need to remove it from exclude list, if feasible.

As a side note, I think it is quite confusing to figure out in which frameworks/configurations
a test gets run in the current test harness. There are multiple ways by which we can exclude
tests - in the test itself, in properties file, in .exclude files, at suite level etc. When
moving to JUnit, it may be good if we can simplify this. I have not followed the JUnit work
closely and plan to take a look how this will be handled there.

> jdbcapi/dataSourceReference.java currently tests both embedded and client data sources.
The tests for client data source must be moved to a separate test. This will ensure following:

> * Can run embedded driver tests without requiring client jars.
> * Can separate out all client tests and make it part of derbynetclientmats suite. This
way, we can run just this suite to test any client changes.
> It would be good to check if there are other tests which fall into similar category.
