Subject [jira] Commented: (DERBY-1491) Provide ALTER TABLE functionality to change a column's default value

Bryan Pendleton commented on DERBY-1491:
----------------------------------------

I think I don't like this syntax. I think that it would be better to provide support for the
syntax

ALTER TABLE tablename ALTER [COLUMN] columnname SET DEFAULT defaultvalue

and

ALTER TABLE tablename ALTER [COLUMN] columnname DROP DEFAULT

I will revisit this patch and investigate providing this alternate syntax.

> Provide a way to alter the default value for an existing column in an existing table.
The syntax should probably some variant of the ALTER TABLE statement.
