They correspond to standard mathematical functions.  In DERBY they all take a single argument
of type DOUBLE PRECISION, except for PI() which takes no arguments.

The functionality is described by the corresponding Java method in java.lang.StrictMath, except
for PI which maps to the field StrictMath.PI

One addition for DERBY is that when the argument is NULL the return is NULL
