In hard/full upgrade, dropJDBCMetadataSPSes() is called, hence the SPSs are dropped and regenerated. In soft upgrade mode, SPSs aren't used. Instead, EmbedDatabaseMetaData.getPreparedQuery() will read the query directly from metadata.properties.
