 I think we need to make sure as part of our tests that upgrade works and we don't have any
compatibility errors when running metadata tests.  I would think running an old client against
a new database would be a good thing, as well as upgrading an old database and making sure
the new metadata queries work correctly.

As far as I could tell, she did not suggest a particular solution?

Anyway, I would like to continue this part of the discussion (which
queries to put in metadata.properties and how to refer to them) to
DERBY-1093, and/or DERBY-1094, since this is really separate from the
client/server version compatibility issue.
