Subject [web] platform differences when building the derby web site
Date Wed, 08 Feb 2006 18:28:35 GMT
If you don't build the derby site, skip this message. :-)

I build the derby site on Linux and Andrew builds it on Windows. Last
year we noticed some odd platform differences revealed by 'svn status'
that I reported as a low priority fyi to forrest dev:

http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/forrest-dev/200508.mbox/%3c42F00801.5020503@bristowhill.com%3e

The story is that forrest processing on Windows puts an extra carriage
return on each line:

https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FOR-805

We don't know why yet.

A similar situation exists with the png files generated from aart.

What to do?

Don't worry about it.

Since I'm the only one (I think) who builds on Linux, I try to 'svn
revert' those files before doing commits. Committing them is harmless,
would only cause minor bloat in the svn repo.

When this is better understood, I'll add an explanation to
http://db.apache.org/derby/papers/derby_web.html .
