Subject [jira] Commented: (DERBY-376) Document Supporting J2ME/CDC/Foundation with JSR169 JDBC subset
Date Fri, 24 Jun 2005 19:47:57 GMT

Myrna van Lunteren commented on DERBY-376:

The patch / html looks mostly good, but with the following comments:

- the datasource names are not entirely correct, they're not in the package org.apache.derby.embedded,
but in org.apache.derby.jdbc.Embedded. So that section becomes:
"To obtain a connection under JSR169 specifications, use the org.apache.derby.jdbc.EmbeddedSimpleDataSource
class. This class is identical in implementation to the org.apache.derby.jdbc.EmbeddedDataSource
class. See the Derby Developer's Guide for information on using the properties of the org.apache.derby.embedded.EmbeddedDataSource

I am also thinking Dan put some final remarks in DERBY-97 which might be good to see as limitation
bullets in the doc:
"- Diagnostic tables are not supported in JSR 169
 - Triggers are not supported in JSR169 "
And I would add this from the spec:
- Encrypted Databases are not supported with JSR169"
"- There is no support for DriverManager in JSR169 so you cannot use DriverManager.getConnection()
to obtain a connection."

I don't think there is a need for separate sysinfo output - sysinfo output has been changed
for all jvms - not just jsr169-supporting jvms.
