Subject [jira] Updated: (DERBY-305) Fix error messages in properties files to match text in documentation
Date Wed, 25 May 2005 22:48:55 GMT

David Van Couvering updated DERBY-305:

    Attachment: DERBY-305.diff

The attached patch fixes the messages_en.properties file to be in line with the
changes submitted to the documentation.

I am also attaching a commented version of Jeff's list of changes -- there were
a couple of things I had to modify, and there were a couple of changes I didn't
think make sense. I marked my comments with "===>". These imply changes
to the docs.

svn status output:

M java/engine/org/apache/derby/loc/messages_en.properties
M java/testing/org/apache/derbyTesting/functionTests/master/schema5.out
M java/testing/org/apache/derbyTesting/functionTests/master/dml112.out
M java/testing/org/apache/derbyTesting/functionTests/master/dml147.out

> Jeff has submitted a patch that documents the SQL States and associated error messages,
but in the process modified the English text. Now the documentation and messages are out
of synch. Rather than adjust the docs to have the old "bad" English, this subtask will adjust
the message text to match the "good" English in the documentation.
> If I find any more adjustments are needed, I will note them, and the documentation may
need to go through another revision to make sure they match.
> One thought for a future feature: create a script that generates the documentation directly
from the message files, or that generates the documentation *and* messages from an independent
(XML) source file, so this is not an ongoing exercise...
