Hello Derby Developer Community,

Hard to believe it has been 2 1/2 months since the Derby code came out
into the light of day. It has been so wonderful to see such interest
and input on the developer and user lists. I have been particularly
thrilled to be able to throw my quandaries out to you folks and see them
resolved. The only really big adjustment for me has been that when I
see those requests from users, I can't go and run to my manager and ask
for that feature to be implemented. I have faith, however, that
members of the community will step forward on a lot of these issues and
together we'll get it done. The key I think is to have a lot of
talented contributors and committers to do all this work.

So, I think it would be a great time to really aggressively grow the
developer community and expand our committer group. So, I would like
to encourage everyone to.

	1) Make code, doc and testing contributions.
File JIRA bugs. Pick up bugs and fix them. Complete items on
the to do list, suggest additions to the to do list and
complete those too. Show your merit and long term
commitment to the project and become our next committer.
 	2) Voice your opinion if you feel you have an opinion and
the knowledge to go with it.
 	3) Present issues for discussion or vote.
 	4) Vote on all issues for which you feel you have
 	   a worthwhile opinion.

Thanks

Kathey
