||Verified that fix provides a significant performance boost for large tables with lots of
nulls in the indexed column. The experiment is recorded on the DERBY-642. || (No doc changes

|| I have verified that the feature works as documented in the Developer's Guide. On Java
6 on Mac OSX and on Java 7 on UbuntuLinux, I have verified that the xmlparse and xmlserialize
operators work without having to set java.endorsed.dirs on the VM boot command. However, the
same test fails on Max OSX when running on Java 5 or JDK 1.4. On those platforms, the test
does succeed if the VM boot command points java.endorsed.dirs at a directory containing the
Apache Xalan 2.7.1 jars. || [[https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DERBY-5095|DERBY-5095]]
