+ Databases, pioneered by Sybase, initially provided stored procedures that were written in
+ a enhanced SQL programming language. The enhanced SQL contained flow control, variables
etc.

PROCEDURE
+ statement containing the logic in the enhanced SQL. The database then compiled the procedure
