First, have a look at the end of

you can omit a query parameter name completely, alternatively, you can use path segments:
http://cxf.apache.org/docs/jax-rs-search.html#JAX-RSSearch-SearchExpressionsinURIPathsegments

Would either of those options work for you or do you actually prefer a custom query parameter
