Subject Re: Regarding the CXF release 2.0.13
Date Fri, 04 Jun 2010 13:46:31 GMT

I just did a build with:

dkulp@dilbert ~/working/cxf-2.0.x $ java -version
java version "1.5.0_22"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_22-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 1.5.0_22-b03, mixed mode)

dkulp@dilbert ~/working/cxf-2.0.x $ mvn -version
Apache Maven 3.0-beta-1 (r935667; 2010-04-19 13:00:39-0400)
Java version: 1.5.0_22
Java home: /opt/sun-jdk-1.5.0.22/jre
Default locale: en_US, platform encoding: ANSI_X3.4-1968
OS name: "linux" version: "2.6.34_dk" arch: "amd64" Family: "unix"

And all the tests passed. One thing to check is your jre/lib/endorsed stuff
to make sure there isn't anything in there. Also, check to make sure you
are using the latest JDK from Oracle. I know the parsers and xslt things in
various versions of 1.5.0 were quite broken. I know all the versions from
1.5.0_07 to 1.5.0_13 were very broken. We couldn't pass the TCK's with
those.

That said, 2.0.x and, to a lesser extend, 2.1.x doesn't have all the changes
that were put into 2.2.x to make it work better with different JDK's and such.
There were also a bunch of "random" failures that we never tracked down until
2.2 timeframe so the 2.0.x builds were fairly unreliable. A couple tests
also had timing issues on fast and/or slow computers (and you computer seems
to fall into "slow". 50 minutes to get that far?!?! My whole successful
build took 24 minutes.).
