Hi Willem,

This is supported - see test case 
org.apache.cxf.configuraton.spring.JaxbPropertyEditorTest in 
cxf-common-utilities.
It's just that these complex types, or rather property editors for 
them,  have to be registered.
I'll commit a fix soon.
