Hi Couchers / Dave

Nooby me just managed to install couchdb 1.5 on ubuntu 12.04 on a virtual
machine :-)

I started at http://couchdb.apache.org,
followed the link to: https://launchpad.net/~couchdb/+archive/stable

and then tried a lot of stuff unsuccessfully.

Only after I hat dug out the original announcement from Dave here:

did I succeed.

It would help linux-noobs like me a lot if you could add the extremely
helpful instructions from the announcement either to the couchdb homepage
or to https://launchpad.net/~couchdb/+archive/stable
