How about those logs?

If you're not getting an error in couch.log at debug level then I'd like to see
the output of curl -VX …. in full somewhere, optionally PM it if you have
concerns.

FWIW I see these in a debug log for POST _replicate, if this isn't
appearing and there's no stacktrace, I'm puzzled indeed.

Does POSTing to replicator work if both DBs are on the same host (i.e. local)?
How was couchdb built, tests passed OK>
