A list function is applied to a view result. It can be used to make  
XML (or whatever) out of the view's json data structure, but you don't  
really post XML to it. You can send arguments to the list function via  
the request, see http://wiki.apache.org/couchdb/Formatting_with_Show_and_List 
  for more info.
