This means your query server, couchjs, process is dying. Since your view
code is clearly not at fault I would guess it's a linking issue with
spidermonkey.

If you're on ubuntu there is wiki documentation about the tricky state of
linking the javascript engine provided in the xulrunner-devel package.

Can you run 'make check' successfully? The futon tests?
