Informing was good.  Posting in multiple places is bad.  Look at it from the
point of view of someone who could answer.  Their assumption is going to be
that their time is being wasted.  They wouldn't want to take the time to
answer here if someone else has given the same answer on SO (or vice versa).
And then followups become difficult to manage too.

I suggest reading this article on asking smart questions, especially as it
gives lots of insight into what the people who could answer the questions
are thinking.  (Hint:  they like good questions and do not like their time
being wasted!)
